A Biblical Literalist

I know I know, it's so cute when adults believe that Noah actually had enough of an an all-star cast of Marlin Perkins, Jack Hanna, and Steve Irwin types to not only locate two of every creature but also to fit them all on a boat. Not to mention the water and food. And the regular old animals aren't even the biggest problem, what about micro-organisms?

But just because a person suffers from this kind of disability doesn't mean you have to patronize him or her with baby talk. Speak normally, just be careful what you say.
Hint: Don't speak in metaphor and only use simile when absolutely necessary!
You don't want a literalist calling the ambulance when you say you have a frog in your throat, nor calling the cops when you say of a car you bought that "it was a steal".

Spare the Rod . . . (Just Have a Heart and Spare the Rod)
When progress isn't forthcoming, as tempted as you may be to snatch up everything that remotely falls under the definition of "rod" (antennae, baseball bats, dowels, pointy sticks, hockey sticks, icicles, etc.) and smack the everluvin' stuffing out of your friend the literalist, do spare the rod. Consider it sort of a retroactive treat for his underpriveleged childhood of not being allowed to read Dr. Seuss because it's witchcraft.

"Walk A Mile" in His Shoes
but don't tell it to him that way silly! He'll start taking his shoes off for you, or in even more extreme cases he might tell you that you couldn't walk a mile in his shoes because they're not even a foot long.

Set aside a day with your friend in which you become a literalist too.
Some activities you can share include:

Rolling in dough
(not too much water or it beomes paste)
Painting the town red
(I recommend Sherwin-Williams)
Taking in a movie
(they're much easier to care for than stray dogs)
Getting pickled
(generic vinegar is just as good as Heinz, and cheaper)
Making waves
(ask your old physics teacher for a ripple tank)
Being gold diggers
(the fun part is dressing up like 49ers)
Making out like bandits
(the hard part is kissing while that bandana is over your face)

Don't just whistle Dixie, sing it too!
(your friend the literalist likely knows the lyrics by heart)

A Biblical Literalist,

is a person who believes that every word of the Holy Bible is true. This can be quite embarra**ing for the person when reason, logic and outmoded ideals have rendered many pa**ages and commands of the good book into obsolete silliness.
If you are ever engaged in conservation with one of these people, use these queries to silence,
confuse and upbraid them into submission

1. Ask them if they are now wearing, or have ever worn, a garment made from 2 different materials. This is forbidden.

2. If it is a gentleman with whom you speak, let him know that he must never sit on a chair or lie down in a bed that a woman has occupied while menstruating. He will be one tired fellow if he has adhered to this.

3. The Bible states the earth is flat and sits on pillars. Demand that they take you to these pillars immediately or at least show you a photograph of one.

4. Ask them to explain dinosaurs. Ask them why there is no mention of them in the Bible.

5. Ask them how long it takes for the sun to move around the earth.

6. If they have children, find out why they are still living as any disobedient or rebellious child should be put to death.

7. Tell them you would like a list of all the adulterers they have killed.

8. If there are idols or images of anything in the room, demand that they begin smashing them as these things are forbidden.

As they weep before you in sin, begging forgiveness,
simply say, "Who knows, really? You're probably right."

This list is incomplete by far. Probably needs a few more.
Like no one should eat lobster, shrimp, catfish, or bacon again.
I think it's okay to sleep with the maid if your wife can't conceive,
isn't that what Moses did?

Some things are figurative and some things are literal. The problem is that mystics and gnostics try to make you think that the figurative from Satan is the figurative that you should embrace.

Don't believe it.

So Noah is a fable? The figurative interpretation of the bible requires people not to trust in the plain teachings of the bible, but in the interpretations men put on those teachings.

I find it interesting that the only thing God has chosen to preserve is the bible not men's interpretations of it.

Reece, no, Noah is not a fable. Please read what I said again. Some things are figurative and some things are literal, but the figurative that the mystics and gnostics teach, for instance, like bible rick, are not from God or His Son, either way.

Mystics and gnostics love to say the whole bible is figurative, that is because Satan and his devils teach their disciples according to satanically figurative inspirations.

For example -

...the Gnostics saw the resurrection as a figurative event. ...
www.thesatirist.com/books/GnosticGospels.html

... level is the most basic; 2) the moral level is next; 3) the figurative/mystical level is highest. ...
www.monachos.net/forum/showthread.php?t=3041

One of the problematical questions inherent with the gnostics was on Christ's resurrection. They thought it a figurative, mythic event. ...

Well, Reece,

I'm gonna Assume You're asking an straight foward question.

And Not being sarcastic...!!!

At the First, I had No Idea that there was a Figurative and a Literal debate going on, (And So I'm told, It's Been going on since the 1st Century) I had No Clue...!!!

But, as the Bible Shows and as many believe, As "oftheFather7" Stated, " Some things are figurative and some things are literal. "

This Is Now A Common Understanding.

And This debate continues, What is Literal, What Is Figurative.?.!

It's Not Something, I "BibleRick" Started, and Again at the First I had No Idea it was even a topic.

That Said, As I read The Bible, It was clear that Somethings were Figurative, But I never even looked at it that way I just thought it was the Way Stories were told,
(We Even in this day and Age speak this Way).

I wasn't seen by me until after I read the New Testament, that I understood Jesus, Spoke this way all the Time, (Wait a minute) Isn't it Truth Or Believed That Jesus is the Word Of God,
"Genesis-Through-Revelation" ???

(Rhetoric Question) Yes it Is,
Jesus is, "The Word" Genesis-Revelation

Well if that's Truth, Than Parables (Figurative is Through Out) and That isn't any mystery, This we Know that the Bible Speaks to the Figurative Everywhere...!!!

But, The Debate or Fighting starts when Some see things That can be read figuratively, and others Don't see it, (Can't or Won't)

Again, (And So I'm told, It's Been going on since the 1st Century).

It's Fact, That it's There, But it's Not Clear to most where it Starts and it Ends, What Is and What Isn't...!!!

And Again, This wasn't something I BibleRick Started, It's Been going on Long before I even came into the Mix...

So, Asking a Question, Like, "So Noah is a fable?"

Is Pretty Broad Question, Considering That Mount Sinai, Is Figurative Gal 4 chapter, Who's to Say that Mount Ararat, isn't Figurative as well...???...!!!

Ya See, Where does it start, and End?

Many things Jesus told Us about, He didn't tell Us of Mount Sinai, it was Paul, If we look to Jesus being "The Word" Then He Told us Trough "The Word" ...!!!

There are many things that We have Yet to Uncover, and Understand about "The Word"...!!!

And another Thing, in My Studies I have learned, that is was told by the The Jewish (Hebrew) Authors who Wrote things,

That Told A Story theres a story behind The Story,
Their Students Were Taught not to Ask did this really happen or Not, But to Ask What is meant by the Story what are We to Learn from the Story, What is Said ...!!!

The Story behind the Story

Biblerick, you said that when Judas bowels gushed out, that bowels meant heart, and that Judas's heart gushed out. That is figurative nonsense. Did you ever think that his bowels literally gushed out? No, you sought to exonerate Judas, so you went to a figurative understanding, which was not according to righteousness, but according to itching ears.

But, and All that Said,

Yep, I believe the Story of Noah, is A Not a Fable But a Parable, and We are to Learn from It, bigger things than just what is told In That Story...!!!

But that would require Thought, interpretation, and Most Just can't do that they can only Understand what is Black and White...!!!

God is Not just Black and White, He Is the Whole Rainbow And Then Some...!!!
