When Jesus died on the cross and was buried. What did he do for those three days. I am amazed how divided the Church is on this subject.

What say you scholars on BM?

It wasn't as we have been taught,

Isn't what we have been lead to believe...!!!

You Asked...!!!

If You have, a Bible Program, Type in, "Three Days" "Third Day"

A Simple seach will Show something Not yet Understood...!!!

But Even More Than That,

The Third Day

Genesis 1:9
And God said,
"Let" the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, (Jesus)
and let the dry land appear: (separation)
and it was so.

Genesis 1:10
And God called the dry land Earth;
(The New Earth, Those Without the Living Water, are the New Earth)
and the gathering together of the water"S" called he Seas:
and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:11
And God said,
Let the earth bring forth grass,
(Grass = Study What the Grass Is,
All 62 times, But these are Most Clear what the Grass Is
Job 5:25, Psa 37:2, Psa 90:5, Isa 37:27, Isa 40:6-8,
Isa 51:12, 1 Pet 1:24
)
the herb yielding seed,
(Herb = Isa 37:27)
(And We Know what the Seed is, "The Word")
and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind,
(We Know what the Fruit Tree is Too, Jesus)
whose seed is in itself,
upon the earth:
and it was so.

Genesis 1:12
And the earth brought forth grass,
and herb yielding seed after his kind,
and the tree yielding fruit,
whose seed was in itself,
after his kind:
and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:13
And the evening and the morning were the third day.

Some Churches teach that he decended into hell and took the keys to death, Hell, and the Grave.

Scripture does not support that.

Rev 1:18

18: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

The apostle's creed says "He decended into hell" but that should not be  a subtitute for what the Bible says.

"Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)" (Ephesians 4:8-10)

The genitive "of" can be taken three ways:

1. His decent down to the Earth (a genitive of apposition)

2. He decented into Hades (a genitive of comparsion)

3. The grave (a genitive of comparsion)

The third view best fits the context because in his death Christ had victory over sin and redeemed those who would be given as "Gifts" to the Church. (Bible Knowledge commantary page 634)

See PS 68:18

1 Peter 3:18-20 (New International Version)

18For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, 19through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison 20who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water,

What say you scholars on BM?

For some reason, the Bible is silent on this topic. Before a**uming Jesus went to hell during the three days and three nights there is a rule in hermenuics:

When there's a doctrine in the Bible it must be supported by two or more verses.

For example, the doctrine of The Incarnation is supported by over 20 verses in the New Testament.

In John 13, the doctrine of footwashing is NOT supported. Jesus wasn't teaching "footwashing" but on how to be a humble servant. From Acts to Jude we don't find one verse about footwashing. However, Christians still practice it in various churches.

Now let's apply the rule to your question.

Nowhere in the four Gospels do we find ANYTHING about Jesus going to hell, declaring the victory of the cross to the spirits in Noah's days during the three days and three nights in the tomb.

That is not the interpretation and 1 Peter 3 is a difficult verse to interpretate.

As you pointed out in Revelation, Jesus conquered death and NOW has authority over death and Hades because of the resurrection.

In Hebrews 2, we read that after Jesus died on the cross he "tasted death" for everyone. That everyone are those who are called by God's grace unto salvation by faith in Christ.

The verse in Ephesians, is simply teaching that Jesus showered with spiritual gifts. When Jesus was on the earth, he gave the 12 Apostles spiritual gifts for their ministries. As showned, in their Epistiles and now born-again Christians, have one or more gifts.

It doesn't say he desended into Hades!

Hope that helps!

The spirits are the pagan people who drowned in the deluge. They are not demons! When they drowned their bodies were scattered over the First Earth. Their spirit or soul came out of their bodies and went into Hades or prison. In verse 20, we read they denied Noah's message of salvation "disobeyed". In Revelation 20, we read that Hades let's loose the lost(the spirits) to be judged at the White Throne Judgment.

Hope that helps!

I don't agree either because is NOT supported in the Scriptures.
